BECKY KUEK
BECKY KUEK (郭金玫) is a multi-genre Showrunner, Writer, Director, Producer and Actor with a strength for crafting compelling stories powered by a meaningful underlying message. She lets her own experiences and worldview build stories that are heartfelt and hilarious, and believes the audience is the most important part of every project she makes.
Becky is Chinese-Malaysian/Pakeha, Australian-born to Kiwi parents and has lived in Melbourne, Sydney, Ho Chi Minh City, Auckland and London. Having trained and honed her storytelling skills in Auckland, London, Sydney and Los Angeles, Becky spent 10 years working as an actor in theatre, film and TV while quietly eyeing the Writer/Director role.
From 2019-21 Becky produced, directed, wrote, edited and starred in two seasons of hit animated children's series, Tales of Nai Nai. She then directed and co-wrote the live-action comedy series Long x Xia, and has helped make many other Kiwi series across live-action, animation, scripted and factual.
Becky is a Board Member of the NZ Writers Guild and is passionate about empowering underrepresented creatives and building a sustainable and safe future for our industry. Becky was awarded the 2020 NZ Film Commission Gender Scholarship, and is represented by Frank Management.
